In late 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly Donald Trump's chief strategist, visited the UK preparing for a speech at the prestigious Oxford Union.

The event was interrupted by numerous protesters, and Bannon, who was due to travel that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Protesters delayed speech don't think I can catch the plane we are heading to heathrow".

Epstein responded: "That. Is a gulf air departing at 9:50 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "You are an amazing assistant".

These exchanges were released on this week together with over 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the late convicted sex offender.

The release by the House oversight committee includes an iMessage chat where Bannon's name is redacted. The BBC managed to confirm his involvement by cross-referencing the dates, occurrences, and locations referenced.

For instance, Epstein talks about arranging a jet from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the messages, and offers praise their "Oxford speech". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and delivered the speech at the Oxford on November 16.

Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, declined to comment on the inquiry.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon was one of Trump's key aides in the run up to the 2016 election and during the initial phase of his presidency, but stepped down from the White House in August 2017.

He has admitted he was making a documentary about Epstein prior to his passing and allegedly has approximately 15 hours of recordings. In a recording of his show earlier this year, he stated: "We're going to publish the film, the five-part series, next year - at the start of next year."

But the newly released materials suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein went further than documenting his life, with the convicted paedophile at times appearing to serve like a personal assistant.

A short time prior to the exchange in which Epstein seemed to arranged a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the highest-paid travel agent in the world ".

Bannon thanked him: "U r pretty good asst", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in a separate text, Epstein assured Bannon: "I will ensure you're well looked after."

UK Politics Discussed in Exchanges

The published communications also show Bannon and Epstein talking about British political matters in 2018.

Earlier on the day of his address at the Oxford, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I became involved in the EU exit thing this day with Nigel, Johnson and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a allusion to the UK prime minister, the struggling British leader at the period, he added: "The guys are attempting to move on. May soon…"

Epstein advised Bannon: "I think staying as long as you can uk. Ideal- so people see the dedication of your follow-up."

Soon after, Epstein inquired: "Will Theresa may survive". Bannon replied: "It seems unlikely BUT the guys over here have no balls" and added "Boris ; Gove; Rees Mogg; David Davis - someone has to step up".

Theresa May was eventually removed in 2019 after surviving multiple attempts of no confidence in late 2018.

A representative for the political party told the BBC: "Nigel Farage has never been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest such a meeting occurred.

The US House of Representatives will vote next week on whether the justice department should make public all its files concerning its investigation into Epstein, who passed away in prison in 2019.

Attention in Epstein's associations with powerful figures was renewed this week after the release of over 20,000 documents from his estate.
